The city tour starts a little away from the heart of the city, Batu Caves. (45 min) Batu Caves is an iconic and popular tourist attraction where a large statue of the Hindu God, Lord Murugan, besides a steep 272 steps at the foot of the limestone hill said to be around 400 million years old. The temple is considered an important religious landmark by Hindus
Next temple is Thean Hou Temple which was built by the Hainanese in order to commemorate the Goddess of Thean Hou in 1989.The top level is the main temple hall where all the cultural and religious activities are held regularly. You can also be able to have a close up look at the Goddess of Thean Hou who is flanked on her right by the Goddess of Waterfront and Goddess of Mercy on her left.
Follow on temple to visit is Wat Chetawan. It is one of the few royal sponsored temples outside Thailand and stands complete as a temple complex with the distinctive structures such as The Ubosot , The Bell Tower, The Sleeping Buddha and a few others. The King Bhumibol had visited Malaysia only once during his entire reign in June 1962 .He touched the lives of many Buddhists – people who are now determined to keep Chetawan Temple a place of solace for generations to come.
The 4th temple to visit is the Sri Jayanthi Buddhist Temple or the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple located at heart of Kuala Lumpur.This temple was found by Venerable B Saranankara Mahathera from Sri Lanka in 1984.It is Theravada Buddhist temple of Sri Lanka Origin and affiliated with the Sri Jayanti Welfare Organization. Most of Sinhalese were either traders or artisans and skilled workers brought in from Ceylon by the British Administration to develop the colonial Malayan Civil Service. This temple was built to provide a place of worship in their Sri Lankan Theravada tradition.
